For my final project, I have decided to join an activism community that focuses on people that were born on the autism spectrum. As a person that was born on the autism spectrum, I have witnessed me and a lot of people with autism being bullied, feeling lonely without any friends, and have trouble communicating in school and throughout their daily lives. With the introduction of the #AutismAwarnessMonth, I felt like this campaign movement really helps those who were born on the autism spectrum help motivate them becoming a really awesome person.

Process: As you can see, this is my Twitter bio and I have joined the campaign #AutismAwarnessMonth . Social media has also influenced people on the internet to go out and support this movement by participating in a 5k run or they can read books to kids with autism. The first step was to make a Twitter account which I have made a couple of years ago, but I never really used it as much till now. The next step was to create a tweet and add it to my timeline and to create the hashtag that I was using to support this movement and become a part of it.

The final step was that I needed to connect to others in the movement to help support each other and grow as a community. There are many ways people are promoting the #AutismAwarnessMonth on Twitter which includes people participating in 5k runs, donating to autism charities either in person or online, and reading books to kids on the autism spectrum. Also, some kids on the autism spectrum do like to play video games and some of these kids like to play Minecraft which is why this guy that I found on YouTube created a Minecraft server dedicated to kids who are on the autism spectrum and there parents can join in as well. Here’s a link if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MF2CEDiIIcU

No matter if you were born on the autism spectrum or not, people are still people and we respect them no matter what and help these people out whenever needed. If you want to join this campaign, simply tweet out the #AutismAwarenessMonth and you will be greeted with a very kind community dedicated to help with those with autism become a very successful person one day.
